Cynthia Ré Robbins was born and raised in a small town in Ohio. She studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art for 3 years, then headed south of the border to complete the curriculum at Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. For two decades she lived and worked in various tropical outposts, doing all manner of commercial art projects while continuing to explore her personal imagery. Her medium was acrylics for painting, pen and ink for drawing up until 1993. She reluctantly returned to the mainland, but concedes that there were some advantages to this relocation.

In Denver, Colorado at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, she took several courses to learn how to use a Mac computer as a tool for fine art. In Boulder, she attended the Naropa Institute to study with Robert Venosa and Phil Jacobson. It was here that she was introduced to the Mische Technique, a manner of painting with oil and tempera that had been used in the late Medieval times. It was nearly completely lost until it was researched by Ernst Fuchs in the 20th century. It breathed a new life into Cynthia's work and made it possible to bring forth her inner visions with greater precision and light.

She is now living in the wooded hills of the Arkansas Ozarks, outside of Eureka Springs. She finds this area to be very stimulating for the magical imagination and good for the soul. Visit her website to see more of her art and to learn more about the Mische Technique.
